Johan De Vries

Johan De Vries has worked over 20 years in development of space instruments for sun backscatter atmospheric remote sensing, as there are SCIAMACHY, GOME, OMI, TROPOMI, Sentinel 4 UVN, and Sentinel 5 UVNS as well as smaller studies. One of the more important was OMI where he has initiated the measurement concept and has been active for the complete development period, including in-orbit commissioning and calibration. He has experience in all scientific aspects of the instrumentation up to Level 2 product generation. He mostly has a role in between instrument scientist, performance engineer and study leader. He earned the Ph.D. degree from Delft Technical University. He has worked at the Space Research Organization of the Netherlands (SRON) from 1988 to 1994. Since 1994, he worked at Dutch Space in the Netherlands, which is now part of EADS Astrium.
