Federico Porcu received the degree in physics at the University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy, in 1986. After the military service, he was granted three years of CNR-fellowship at the institute FISBAT-CNR (now ISAC-CNR) in Bologna. From 1993 to 1998, he was enrolled as Researcher at the same institute. Since 1999, he is Researcher at the Department of Physics of the University of Ferrara. He published more than eighty scientific papers on international journals, books, and conference proceedings. His research interests are in the field of clouds microphysics, radar, and satellite meteorology, with special emphasis on precipitation remote sensing. He participates in several national and international research projects as partner or research unit responsible or research line PI. He is in the board of the Ph.D. degree program in physics of the University of Ferrara.
