B.Sc. Degree with Major in Chemistry & Minor in Physics (1980, Manhattan College); Ph. D. in Chemistry (1985, U. Maryland). Worked in Industry for 3 years in a Laser company. Returned to Zaragoza (Spain) in 1989 to join the Institute of Materials Science of Aragón (ICMA-CSIC/U. Zaragoza). Full Research Professor of CSIC (Spanish National Research Council). Interested in the development of novel laser-based processing methods, using Laser induced Zone Melting and Ablation techniques on most types of materials. Published more than 100 articles in specialised scientific journals and has managed over 6.5 M€ in research funds as principal investigator. Has contributed to the development of large-area laser-surface modification methods, and to laser processing developments in structural and functional materials, as well as to the decontamination of surfaces both, with industrial interest and relevant to Cultural Heritage Sites.
