Fei Kang received his B.S. degree in hydraulic structure engineering from Dalian University of Technology (DUT), Dalian, China, in 2003, and his Ph.D. degree in disaster prevention and mitigation engineering from the same university in 2009. Then, he worked for two years (from 2009 to 2011) at DUT as a Postdoc in hydraulic engineering and served as a Lecturer at the same university since July 2011. He is currently working as a Visiting Scholar at School of Civil Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA. His current research interests are evolutionary algorithms, swarm intelligence, neural networks, and their application in civil and hydraulic engineering. Kang has served as Principal Investigator for 3 national and university-funded projects, edited one special issue of international journal, and published more than 30 peer-reviewed papers, including 20 peer-reviewed journal papers. Kang serves as a Peer Reviewer for nine international journals.
