Hannu Eskola serves as a Professor of medical physics at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the Tampere University of Technology, Finland. He received an M.S. degree in engineering in 1979, a Ph.D. degree in technology in 1983, and Docent degree in biophysics in1989 from the same university. He worked as a Senior Scientist at the Academy of Finland, Professor in biomedical engineering at the Tampere University of Technology from 1995 to 2001, and the Director of the Digital Media Institute, at the aforementioned university from 2001 to 2006. He occupied some referee positions at some scientific journals, the Academy of Finland, the French Research Agency, and the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research. He worked as a Chairman and Member of the Organizing Committees of Scientific Conferences and Supervisor of 5 licentiate and 9 doctoral theses in engineering and medicine at the Tampere University of Technology and the University of Tampere. His special interest areas include medical physics and especially quantitative medical imaging.
