Pravina Kitikoon is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Preventive Medicine, College of Veterinary Medicine, Iowa State University, Ames, IA, USA. Kitikoon completed her Ph.D. degree in veterinary microbiology from Iowa State University, Ames, IA, USA, in 2007, her M.S. degree in molecular genetics-genetic engineering from Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand, in 1998, and her D.V.M. degree from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, in 1995. She is currently working in the Swine Influenza Virus (SIV) Group in collaboration with the Swine and Prion Diseases Research Unit at the National Animal Disease Center. Her research interest includes studying the virulence properties of SIV, identifying mechanisms of SIV pathogenesis, characterization of currently circulating and emerging SIV, and developing vaccine strategies to enhance and provide cross-protection of circulating subtypes of SIV.
