Dr. Wen-Chi Chen is Director, Center of Liver Diseases, Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Internal Medicine at Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. He received his medical degree from the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan and completed his Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship at Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan. He completed his postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Chen specializes in the treatment of chronic viral hepatitis and liver cirrhosis. He is one of the leading research experts in complications of portal hypertension, especially endoscopic therapy of variceal bleeding.
