Tathagata Dutta graduated from the University of Mysore, Mysore, India, securing the first rank in B. Pharm. degree in the university. He had earned both his M. Pharm. (Pharmaceutics) and Ph.D. degrees in pharmaceutical sciences and a postdoctoral degree from School of Pharmacy, University of Queensland, Brisbane, QLD, Australia. He had served as a Scientist in Ranbaxy Research Laboratories Ltd., India, and Diamantina Institute for Cancer, Immunology and Metabolic Medicine, Brisbane, QLD, Australia. His expertise lies in the area of novel drug delivery systems (NDDSs) like liposomes, nanoparticles, and dendrimers from the controlled and targeted delivery of highly potent and sensitive molecules like anticancer and antiretroviral drugs. He is one of the pioneers in the field of dendrimer technology, especially for the delivery of drugs and genes. His major contribution lies in the field of development of RNAi therapeutics for effective management of cancer. Currently, he is the Deputy Director, formulation development and research of a premier drug discovery and formulation research organization. He is an Expert in nanotechnology and dendrimer-based drug and gene delivery. His research interests include tissue targeted drug delivery systems, siRNA delivery, and dendrimers and surface engineering of polymers for reduced toxicity and biocompatibility. He has published more than 50 international papers in reputed journals and authored several book chapters. He has also delivered invited lectures in several international conferences and symposia. He is the Editorial Board Member of several international journals on drug delivery research and a Life Member of several professional bodies. So far he has supervised several M. Pharm. /M.
