Gavriel Chaushu has obtained D.M.D. and M.S. degrees. He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel and the Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Rabin Medical Center, Petah Tiqwa, Israel. He attended the Hebrew University at Jerusalem. Completed residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Chaim Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, Israel. He is the Past President and Secretary of the Israeli Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the Head of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at the Tel Aviv Medical Center 2002–2006, the Head of the Oral Health and Dental Implantology Center, Assaf Harofeh Medical Center 2008–2011, and a Member of the Israeli Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has published over 100 articles in the English literature. He has extensive experience in dental implant surgery and has lectured on dental implantology internationally. He teaches dental implantology courses on both basic and advanced levels. His fields of research in dental implantology include sinus augmentation, immediate implant placement, immediate loading of implants, ridge augmentation procedures, and postoperative morbidity. The surgical orthodontic teamwork is an additional major field of research with emphasis on the use of mechanical retention and osseointegration for orthodontic anchorage.
