Victorino Franco is a Full-Time Professor at the Condensed Matter Physics Department, Seville University, Sevilla, Spain. He received his Ph.D. degree in physics from Sevilla University, Sevilla, Spain, in 1999. He received the Ph.D. Degree Thesis Extraordinary Award from Sevilla University in 1999, the Young Scientist Award from Spanish Royal Physical Society in 2000, and the Young Scientist Award from the Royal Order of Chivalry of Sevilla in 2005. His research interests include the following: relationship between microstructure and magnetic properties in soft magnetic amorphous and nanocrystalline alloys; magnetic anisotropy of nanocrystalline materials; magnetic interactions in nanostructured materials; magnetocaloric effect and magnetic refrigeration; giant magnetoimpedance. He has more than 110 papers in international refereed journals. He serves as the Chairman of the Magnetic Materials Committee of the Minerals Metals and Materials Society (TMS), USA, since 2012, after being the Vice Chair of the committee since 2009. He has been a Publication Editor at the 56th Conference on Magnetism and Magnetic Materials (Scottsdale, 2011) and at the 12th Joint MMM/Intermag Conference (Chicago, 2013), he serves as an External Evaluator for national and international agencies, and he has participated in the organization of national and international conferences.
