Stefanie Joos was born in Karlsruhe, Germany, in 1970. She received her Medical degree and the Dr. med. from the University of Heidelberg in 1997 and 1998, respectively. After vocational training at the University Hospital in Erlangen-Nürnberg and in general practice in Karlsruhe she received her approval as medical specialist for general practice and an additional qualification for Complementary and Alternative Medicine in 2004. Since 2004 she worked as a research fellow at the Department of General Practice and Health Services Research at University Hospital Heidelberg. Since 2008 she is Deputy Head of the Department of General Practice and Health Services Research at Heidelberg University Hospital. Furthermore, she is project leader of the Competence Centre General Practice Baden-Württemberg, a network of all five medical faculties in Baden-Württemberg. In 2010, S. Joos has received her postdoctoral lecture qualification (PD/Habilitation) in general practice. She is teacher for general practice and Complementary and Alternative Medicine at Heidelberg University, Faculty of Medicine and postgraduate tutor for general practice. S. Joos is interested in Complementary and Alternative Medicine in general practice including efficacy and health services research aspects. She is a member of the steering committee of the German FORUM, a network cooperation of researchers with focus on complementary and alternative medicine and member of the scientific board of the German physician society for acupuncture (DÄGFA).
