Serge Weis serves as M.D. and Ph.D. degree from Laboratory of Neuropathology, State Neuropsychiatric Hospital Wagner-Jauregg, Linz, Austria. Weis was born in Pétange, Luxembourg, in 1960. He received his M.D. degree from the Medical School, University of Vienna, Austria. He was trained in neuropathology at the Ludwig-Maximilans University Munich, Germany, where he also received his professorial thesis. He worked as Senior Consultant and acted as a Head in neuropathology at the Otto-von-Guericke University, Magdeburg, Germany. He served also as Director of neuropathology at the Stanley Medical Research Institute, Bethesda, MD, USA. Currently he heads the laboratory of neuropathology at the State Neuropsychiatric Hospital Wagner-Jauregg, Linz, Austria. His research topics include Neurodegeneration, Neuro-AIDS, Neuro-oncology, Epilepsy, and Biological Psychiatry (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression). He edited the largest reference book on Alzheimer disease in German-speaking countries. He is a member of numerous scientific societies.
