Steven G. Buckley
Dr. Buckley focuses on novel chemical sensors applied to challenging environments such as combustion and high-temperature process streams. Following his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from U.C. Berkeley in 1995, he was a postdoc and staff member in the Combustion Research Facility at Sandia National Laboratories. He then went on to teach Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland (1999-2003) and U.C. San Diego (2003-2009), where he was a tenured faculty member in the MAE Department and in the NanoEngineering Department. Dr. Buckley has broad interests in combustion, including reaction dynamics, spectroscopy, and practical combustion systems. In 2006 he co-founded Photon Machines, Inc., dedicated to commercialization and manufacturing of real-time sensors based on lasers and spectroscopy. He lives with his wife and three children in Redmond, WA.
