Ximena Nelson received her Ph.D. degree in 2005 and currently works as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Canterbury, in Christchurch, New Zealand. Nelson worked as an Australian Postdoctoral Fellow at Macquarie University (Sydney) and at the University of Adelaide, Adelaide, SA, Australia. As a behavioural biologist, her research interests include neuroethology, predator-prey interactions, communication, cognition, and the visual systems of spiders. Ximena’s research primarily focuses on jumping spiders (Salticidae) and mountain parrots (Nestor notabilis or Kea). In addition to the Journal of Insects, Ximena also serves as an Editor of Animal Behaviour since 2011.
