Associate Professor Michael Bailey has completed a Masters in statistics and PhD in mathematical modelling and is currently the senior statistician for the Alfred Hospital and The Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre (ANZIC-RC). With over 16 years experience as a biostatistician for one of the leading teaching and research hospitals in Australia, he has obtained extensive exposure to most areas of medical research. As of 2012, Michael has co-authored over 270 peer reviewed journal publications that have appeared in more than 135 different journals and have been collectively cited more than 4000 times. He currently has an H-index of 32. The ANZIC-RC is a binational clinical trials method centre that was established in 2006 and has rapidly built an international reputation for producing intensive care research of the highest quality. Joining the ANZIC-RC as senior statistician in 2007 has enabled Michael to focus more extensively on critical care research and he is currently the trial statistician for 6 large multicentre intensive care clinical trials.
