Christopher S. Brazel
Christopher S. Brazel is an Associate Professor of chemical and biological engineering and an Adjunct Professor of biology at The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Ala, USA. He received the B.S. degree in chemical engineering (P.E. degree) from Texas A&M University in 1992 and the M.S. degree and the Ph.D. degree from Purdue University in 1994 and 1997, respectively. He worked as a Research Engineer at Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas, for 2 years in encapsulation and process research. In 1999, he joined The University of Alabama. In 2008-2009, Dr. Brazel was a Fulbright Distinguished Researcher and a Visiting Professor at Keele University in the United Kingdom. His research expertise encompasses hydrogels and temperature-sensitive polymers for controlled delivery, microencapsulation, targeted micelles and nanomaterials, magnetic nanoparticles, and studies to understand the burst effect in drug release. He is the author of the third edition of Fundamentals of Polymeric Materials, published by Wiley in 2012. His laboratory has educated over 65 student researchers.
