Maurizio Amichetti, M.D., was born on April, 17, 1954. He graduated with summa cum laude in medicine and surgery at Bologna University in 1979, board certified in oncology in 1982, and in radiation oncology in 1986 at Bologna University with honors. He serves as a Head of the Medicine Section of the Provincial Agency for Proton Therapy, Trento. He acquired professional experience at the Centre Leclerq, Dijon, France, (1991), Arizona University (Tucson) 1992, Institut Curie, Paris, France, (1993), California University S. Francisco (UCSF), USA (1994), Stanford University (USA) (1994), and PSI Villigen, Switzerland (2009). He is interested in proton therapy, clinical hyperthermia, head and neck tumors, breast cancer, rectal cancer, neuro-oncology, radiotherapy-chemotherapy integration. He is the author of more than 150 papers (80 in peer review), Editor of 10 books chapters. Author or co-author of 292 presentations or posters delivered at medical congresses and scientific meetings. He serves as a Member of the Editorial Board of International Journal of Hyperthermia and International Journal of Oncology Current Drug Therapy. He serves as a Board Member of the Italian Association of radiation Oncology (AIRO) 1998-2000, Coordinator of the Radiotherapy Group of EUSOMA 1997-1999, Board Member of ESHO 2000 - 2002, and Board Member of Italian Society for the Radiation Research (SIRR) 2009–2010. He served as a Member of American Society of Therapeutic Radiotherapy and Oncology (ASTRO ), ESTRO (European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology), Italian Association for Radiation Oncology (AIRO), Italian Association for Neuro Oncology (AINO), European Society of Mastology (Eusoma), European Society Hyperthermic Oncology (ESHO), the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and The Society of Neuro-Oncology (SNO).
