Davide Schiffer was born in 1928. She obtained a degree in medicine from the University of Turin, 1952, summa cum laude, specializing in neurology and working as an Assistant Professor (1965-1971), as an Associate Professor of neurology (1971-1975), as a Full Professor of neurology (1975-2000), and as a Professor Emeritus of neurology (since 2003) at the same university. She served as the Director of the Department of Neuroscience and as the Director of Postgraduate School of Neurology (1996-2000). She is a Member of the neuropathology Societies of Italy, France, Germany, and USA. She authored more than 600 scientific publications mostly in international journals and more than 10 books of neurology, neuropathology, and brain tumors. She is a Member of the editorial board of 10 international journals. Her principal subjects of research are neuropathology, human brain tumors (neuropathology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular genetics), experimental brain tumors (induction), neurodegenerative diseases, and aging and cell neurobiology.
