Isabel Rucandio is working as a Chemical Researcher at the Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas (CIEMAT), Spain, leading the spectroscopy unit. She graduated from Autonoma University of Madrid, Madrid, Spain, and received San Alberto Magno award from the Chemistry College. She worked in analytical chemistry and received her Ph.D. degree in 1993 from the same University. Her experience has been focused on several spectroscopic analytical techniques: AAS, ICP-AES, spectrography, AFS, FAES, XRD, and XRF, including different pretreatment procedures such as microwave digestion, ion-exchange chromatography, and liquid-liquid extraction. Their application fields are environment, technology, and energy. Her expertise areas lie in arsenic and mercury speciation in mining areas.
