Manuel F. Gonzalez Penedo
Manuel F. González Penedo received a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Santiago, Santiago, Chile (1997), and now, he is a Full Professor at the Computer Department at the Faculty of Computer Science, University of A Coruña (UDC), A Coruña, Spain. Since 1998, he has been the Director of the Research Group Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (VARPA: www.varpa.es). He belongs to institutions like Centre for Research in Information Technology and Communications (CITIC) and the Institute of Biomedical Research of A Coruña (INIBIC). Manuel G. Penedo belongs to different scientific committees for the evaluation of research projects, also belongs to publishing scientific committees, and has organized several sessions at international conferences such as the ICIAR and EUROCAST. His current research interests include the areas of medical image analysis, image processing, and computer vision. In recent years, part of his research has focused on analysis of eye fundus images, in collaboration with various national hospital eye services. In these areas, he has published several book chapters, papers in journals, and international conferences.
