Anna M. Porcelli
Anna M. Porcelli was born in Lucera, Foggia, Italy, in 1972. She received the Science Biological degree (summa cum laude) in 1996 and the Ph.D. degree in cellular biology and physiology in 2001 from the University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy. She was a Visiting Researcher at Professor R. Rizzuto’s laboratory in the University of Ferrara, Ferrara, Italy. In 2002, she received a “Marco Polo” Fellowship at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, MUSC, Charleston, SC, USA. In 2003, she was a Research Fellow at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, MUSC. From 2004 to 2007, she was a Postdoc at the University of Bologna. Presently, she is a Research Associate of biochemistry at the University of Bologna. She is mainly interested in functional significance of mitochondrial mutations and their impact on cell energetic competence on cancer. She received “Baccarini-Melandri” award from “Gruppo Italiano di Bioenergetica e Biomembrane” in 2002 and “L’Oreal Italia per le Donne e la Scienza” award by “L’Oreal Italia” and the Italian National Committee for UNESCO in 2006.
