Guohui Yuan was born in Hunan province, China. She received the B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees from the Department of Electronics and Information Engineering, Tianjin University, Tianjin, China, in 2003 and 2006, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University of Bristol, Bristol, UK, in 2008. During her study in the UK, she was supported by an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council Project, RAPTOR, and a European Project, IOLOS, and was engaged in investigation of photonics device and related topics theoretically, numerically, and experimentally. She received Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad in 2008 for her outstanding research contribution. She serves currently as an Associate Professor at the School of Optoelectronic Information, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, China. She is also a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Her current research interests include optical communication, photonics integrated circuit, semiconductor lasers, and biophotonics. She (co)authored over 30 international conference and IEEE journal papers.
