David Kass

David Kass is a Professor of biology at the Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, Mich, USA. He earned his Ph.D. degree in biological sciences at the University of South Carolina and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the UTMD Anderson Cancer Center investigating genetic alterations associated with breast cancer and LSU Medical Center studying the genetics of retrotransposons. Dr. Kass' research involves studying the dynamics of the mammalian genome with an emphasis on transposable elements, including their genetic and evolutionary impact, mechanisms for their successful amplification, and their use as markers in DNA profiling as well as population studies and as a phylogenetic tool.
