Peter J. Mayhew

Peter J. Mayhew is a zoologist with an interest in ecology, evolution, and insects. His research includes life history evolution, adaptation, behavioral ecology, comparative biology, community ecology, conservation biology, and macroevolution. He obtained his first degree from the University of Oxford, Oxford, UK (1989–1992) and his Ph.D. degree from the Imperial College, London, UK (1993–1996). Mayhew was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Leiden University, Leiden, The Netherlands (1996–1998). In 1998, he moved to the Department of Biology at the University of York, York, UK, to work as a Lecturer of ecology and, since 2008, as a Senior Lecturer. He is the author of Discovering Evolutionary Ecology (Oxford University Press, 2006). Mayhew is also a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society.
