Michael O. Garcia

Michael O. Garcia received his Ph.D. degree in geology from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1976 after working on an ancient island arc complex in Oregon. Since joining the University of Hawaii in 1976, his research has focused on the petrology and geochemistry of Hawaiian active volcanoes, scientific drilling, and giant landslides. He served as an Editor or Member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research, EOS, and the Journal of Geodynamics, and is currently with the Geology Journal. He has been a Visiting Professor at MIT, University of California at Santa Barbara, the Australian National University, Macquarie University, and University of the Philippines.
