Jennifer R. Havens, PhD, MPH is an Associate Professor in the Department of Behavioral Science and the Center on Drug and Alcohol Research at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Dr. Havens was trained in Infectious Diseases Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her primary research interests include the epidemiology of prescription opioid abuse among rural populations, as well as the infectious complications of drug use (HIV, HCV) in rural Appalachian people who inject drugs (PWID). Dr. Havens has been continuously funded by NIDA to study rural drug abuse since 2007.
