Vinicius F. Farjalla

Vinicius F. Farjalla was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1976. He received the Biologist-Ecologist degree (summa cum laude) and the Ph.D. degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1997 and 2003, respectively. Since 2004, Farjalla is an associate professor of the Department of Ecology, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He is mainly interested in microbial ecology and the role of microorganisms in the functioning of ecosystems. Recently, he has also been studying the structuring forces of ecological communities using microorganisms and natural microcosm as models.
