Juergen Buenger received his medical degree at University of Göttingen, Germany. He completed his residencies in surgery, pathology, and internal medicine at several hospitals. He specialized in occupational, environmental, and social medicine. He is an Associate Professor and Deputy Director at the Institute of Occupational Medicine, University of Göttingen, Vice Director and Head of Medical Center of Competence at Institute of Prevention and Occupational Medicine (IPA), Ruhr University of Bochum, Germany. Since 2009, he obtained a full professorship and became the Chair for experimental occupational medicine at the IPA. His scientific expertise includes epidemiologic and clinical studies in occupational and environmental medicine, experimental, toxicological, and immunological research by means of human exposure studies as well as in vitro assays, cell culture techniques, biological monitoring, and molecular medicine.
