Livio Battezzati

Chemistry graduate 1974 from Turin University. Temporary Lecturer in Metal Science in November 1977 and Associate Professor in Metal Science at Turin University from 1983 to 2001. Full Professor of Metallurgy at Turin University from 2001. He has spent a sabbatical year (1985?86) at the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy University of Cambridge (U. K.). He has authored some 220 scientific papers appeared in international journals or books and numerous contributions to national and international conferences. Among these, some 10 invited talks were given in the last 5 years. Fellow of the Institute of Materials from 2002, he has received the Aldo Daccò Prize of the Italian Association for Metallurgy in 2002 and 2006 and the ISMANAM Prize in 2007 and has been appointed Corresponding Fellow of the Accademia delle Scienze di Torino in 2008. He is/has been: - member of the Editorial Board of Current Applied Physics, Materials Science Foundations, La Metallurgia Italiana, International Journal of Non-equilibrium Processing and Journal of Metastable and Nanostructured Materials. - member of the International Advisory Committee of the Rapidly Quenched and Metastable Materials Conference Series. - chairman of the Physical Metallurgy Centre of the Italian Association for Metallurgy. - in charge of projects of the European Commission, of ESA, of INTAS, of research contracts with national agencies and private enterprises. Prof. Battezzati is now responsible of Materials Science Courses at Turin University after holding the same position from 1999 to 2002. Since 2002 he chairs the Teaching Committee of the Faculty of Sciences at Turin University.
