Carlos Ramos graduated from the University of Porto, Portugal, in 1986, and he obtained the Ph.D. degree from the same university in 1993. He works as a Coordinator Professor at the Department of Informatics, School of Engineering of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (ISEP-IPP). He is also the Director of GECAD (Knowledge Engineering and Decision Support Research Center), the largest R&D center of the polytechnic system in Portugal, and dedicated to AI topics. He coordinates the Ambient Intelligence and Decision Support Group of GECAD. His main research interests include artificial intelligence and decision support systems, recently with more emphasis on ambient intelligence. Ramos has about 50 publications in scientific journals and magazines and more than 200 publications in scientific conferences.
