Giuseppina Barrera is an Associate Professor of General Pathology at the Department of Clinical and Biological Sciences of the Turin University. She received her degree in biology (cum laude) in 1979 and the Ph.D. degree in experimental and molecular pathology in 1988 (University of Torino), fellowship from 1980 to 1983 by the "National Foundation for Cancer Research" (Bethesda, MD, USA). She has relevant scientific experiences: studies in tumor cells on the antiproliferative and differentiative action elicited from the aldehydes produced from lipid peroxidation; studies on the expression of some oncogenes, transcription factors, oncosuppressor genes, and detoxifying pathways, in tumor cells treated with lipoperoxidation products, PPAR agonist, and other anticancer drugs in free form or carried by nanoparticles. Professor Barrera is a Member of the following scientific associations: Società Italiana di Patologia and American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). She is a paper reviewer for several scientific journals and she was Grant Reviewer for the Health Research Board, Ireland, the National Medical Research Council (Singapore), and the Agence Nationale de la Researche (ANR, France).
