Nesim Kugu was born in 1966. He graduated from Istanbul Medical Faculty, Istanbul University, Turkey, in 1989. He worked as a general practitioner in Kayseri, between 1989 and 1991. Then he started his specialty education as a psychiatry resident at the Psychiatry Department, Faculty of Medicine, Kayseri Erciyes University, in 1991 and became a specialist in the field of adult psychiatry in 1996. He was completing his training expertise. Moreover, he started his academic career at Psychiatry Department, Faculty of Medicine, Sivas Cumhuriyet University, in 1998 as a faculty member. Kugo studied at Mood Disorders Unit in Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 2002 for two months. In May 2006, he became an Associate Professor in adult psychiatry, and then in July 2011, he was appointed as a Professor. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry in Cumhuriyet University School of Medicine. In addition, he is a Member of Psychiatric Association of Turkey and also has cognitive-behavioral psychotherapies association membership. His favorite vocational interests are schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders, cognitive-behavioral psychotherapies, and interpersonal psychotherapy.
