Chang-Biau Yang is currently a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan. He received his B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering from National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1982, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1984 and 1988, respectively. Since 1990, he became a faculty member of National Sun Yat-sen University. He has been the chairman of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and the Director of Office of Library and Information Services. His research interests include computer algorithms, bioinformatics and parallel processing. Especially, he was devoted to the study of the longest common subsequence problem and related problems, which have a wide application on bioinformatics.
