Guobao Xu received his B.S. in chemistry from Jilin University, his M.S. degree from Xiamen University, and his Ph.D. degree from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry. After postdoctoral research at the University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and NTT Microsystem Integration Laboratories, he joined Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as a Professor in 2004 and was promoted to Deputy Director of The State Key Laboratory of Electroanalytical Chemistry in 2009. His research interests include electrochemiluminescence, synthesis and applications of nanomaterials, single-walled carbon nanohorns, electrochemistry, and biosensors. He won the Young Scholar Award of the Chinese Chemical Society in 2005, the Excellent Youth Award of the Chinese Society of Electrochemistry, and the Second Class Award of National Natural Science of China in 2009.
