Florentin Ipate was born in Constanta, Romania, on 4th December 1967. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees from the University of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK in 1995 and 1992, respectively, and his B.S. degree from Politehnica University of Bucharest, Bucharest, Romania in 1991, all in computer science. He is now a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Pitesti, Romania. He has been awarded the In Hoc Signo Vinces Prize for research and publications by the National Research Council for Higher Education in 2002 and the COPYRO Publishing Prize for Computer Science in 2000. His research interests are in specification and model-based testing, formal specification languages for software systems, agile modeling and testing, and modeling and testing of biology-inspired computing systems. He has been involved, as a principal investigator or coinvestigator, in several EU or nationally funded RTD projects, involving teams from high-profile universities and world-leading industrial companies. His main research results have been published in a research monograph with Springer and in high-profile journals.
