Kenneth Rose was born in Oceanside, NY, USA, in 1957. He received the B.S. degree in 1979 in biology and mathematics from the State University of New York at Albany, and the M.S. degree (1981) and the Ph.D. degree (1985) in fisheries from the University of Washington. He worked as a Consultant for Martin Marietta Corporation (1983-1987) and then as a Research Scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (1987-1998). Since 1998, he has been a Faculty Member at the Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences at Louisiana State University. He is mainly interested in computer and mathematical modeling of ecological populations and communities, especially fish. His work ranges from theoretical to management analyses. He is a Fellow of the AAAS, and he has been serving as an Associate or Subject Editor for over ten journals. He has published over 120 papers and is a Member of several national advisory committees, like the National Academies Committee on a Sustainable California Delta.
