Gabriel Sandblom is currently a Senior Consultant at Department of Surgery, Karolinska University Hospital, Huddinge, Sweden (since December 2008), 20% as Senior Lecturer. From 2006 to 2008 he was Ward Physician at Department of Surgery, University Hospital of Lund, Sweden. From 2002 to 2006 he was Ward Physician at Department of Surgery, University Hospital of Uppsala, Sweden. From 1993 to 2002 he was Resident at Department of Surgery in Motala and Department of Urology in Linköping, Sweden. From 1990 to 1992 he got an internship at Växjö, Sweden. He was assisting supervisor for four Ph.D. students and main supervisor for three Ph.D. student that have defended their theses, main supervisor for seven Ph.D. students, and assisting supervisor for two Ph.D. students that have not yet defended their theses. His main research interests are prostate cancer, management of gallstone disease, and hernia surgery. Other merits include authorship of 76 original articles and 6 review articles, thesis defended on April 2001 (Diagnosis, management, quality of life, and long-term survival in prostate cancer patients: A study based on national, regional, and local cancer registry data in Sweden), specialist in urology since February 2002 and specialist in surgery since 2003, Associate Professor in surgery since 2005, Head of the Huddinge site of the section of acute surgery and trauma, Karolinska University Hospital, and Board member of the Swedish Register for gallstone surgery (GallRiks), Swedish Hernia Register (SHR), Swedish Society for Innovative Surgical Technology (SIKT), and Committee for Clinical Research of the Swedish Surgical Society (KKF).
