Martin Malmsten

Martin Malmsten was born in 1964 and received his Ph.D. degree in physical chemistry from Lund University in 1992. He is currently a Professor at, and the Head of, the Department of Pharmacy, Uppsala University. Before this, he was the Director of the Institute for Surface Chemistry and before that at Astra Arcus AB. Malmsten's research has resulted in over 200 papers and several books. Parallel to his academic research, he is the founder of Dermagen AB and XImmune AB, both developing peptide drugs. He was awarded the Langmuir Lecture Award from the American Chemical Society. Malmsten is a Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Science, Fellow of the Royal Chemical Society, Guest Professor at Charitg University in Berlin, and Coeditor of the Journal of Colloid and Interface Science. His research interests include proteins, peptides, polymers at interfaces, microgels, drug delivery, and antimicrobial and host defense peptides.
