Ana Maria Caetano Faria
Ana Maria Caetano Faria received her M.D. degree from Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil, in 1984. She received her Ph.D. degree jointly from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, and New York University, New York, NY, USA, in 1994. She was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for Neurological Diseases, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA, from 1998 to 1999, where she also spent her sabbatical year in 2003. She is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Immunology at Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Her research interests all along her scientific formation and professional career have been oral tolerance, mucosal immunology, aging, and immunobiology of nutrition. She has received grant awards from the World Health Organization (2000 and 2004), Fogarty International Center (2007), and the Excellence Grant Award (PRONEX 2009) from FAPEMIG in Brazil.
