Daniel R. Perez obtained his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the College of Chemical Sciences, National University of Córdoba, Córdoba, Argentina, and completed his Ph.D. degree in molecular virology at the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln, Neb, USA. He has been studying virus-virus and virus-host protein interactions of influenza virus and bovine viral diarrhea virus. His current interests include the interspecies transmission, pathogenesis, and evolution of avian influenza viruses and the role of cross-protective immunity in the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses to other birds and mammals.
