Abdulbari Bener is Professor of public health at the Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul University, Istanbul, Turkey. He was Professor of public health in the Department of Public Health at the Weill Cornell Medical College for a period from January 2006 to August 2014. Bener was Assistant Medical Director and Head of the Medical Statistics and Epidemiology Department at Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha, Qatar, during the period from August 2002 to July 2014. Moreover, he is an Advisor to World Health Organization and Adjunct Professor and Coordinator for the postgraduate and master public health programs (MPH) of the School of Epidemiology and Health Sciences, University of Manchester, Manchester, UK. He is Fellow of Royal Statistical Society (FRSS) and Fellow of Faculty of Public Health (FFPH). He holds a Ph.D. degree in medical statistics (biometry) and Genetics from the University College of London (UCL), London, UK, and a B.S. degree from Ankara University, Ankara, Turkey. He completed research fellowships in the Departments of Genetics and Biometry and Statistics and Computer Sciences at the UCL. He has held academic positions in public health, epidemiology, and statistics at universities in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and England. He has been an author or coauthor of more than 543 published journal articles. Currently he is an Editorial Board Member of BioMed Research International. He is acting as an Editor, Associate Editor, Advisor Editor, and Assistant Editor for over 20 journals and as a Referee for over 60 journals. He has contributed to more than 19 book chapters and supervised theses of 50 postgraduate students (M.S., M.P.H., M.Phil., and Ph.D.).
