Valentin Valtchev was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1959. He received his M.S. degree in the University of Sofia and completed his Ph.D. thesis in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. He has worked as Postdoctoral and Research Fellow in the groups of Professor A Dyer (1992-1993) and Professor J. Sterte (1995-1996). In 1996, he was promoted to Senior Researcher in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Since 1997, he has been working in France. At present Dr. Valetchev is Directeur de Recherche (Professor) in CNRS–Caen, France, and Leader of materials preparation group. His research involves materials synthesis in zeolites and other porous solids that can be used for molecular recognition, separation, and catalysis. Professor Valtchev is editor of 3 books, author of several book chapters and reviews, about 150 scientific publications and 16 patents.
