George J. Stathas

George J. Stathas received his B.S. degree from the Agricultural University of Athens, Greece, in 1986, and his Ph.D. degree in agricultural entomology from the Agricultural University of Athens, Greece, in 1996. From 2001 to 2002, he did a postdoctoral scholarship of the State Scholarship Foundation of Greece. From 1989 to 2003, he worked as a Researcher at the Laboratory of Biological Control, Department of agricultural Entomology and Zoology, Benaki Phytopathological Institute. Since 2003, he has been an Associate Professor of agricultural entomology and zoology and the Head of the Department of Crop Production, Faculty of Crop Science, Technological Educational Institute of Kalamata. His research topics include insect morphology (Coccoidea, Coccoidophagous predators), insect biology (Coccoidea, Coccoidophagous, and aphidophagous predators), and insect ecology (scale insects, aphids, whiteflies, parasitoids, predators). He has participated in 17 international entomological congresses and in organizing committee of 3 congresses. Moreover, he has worked as a team member in 10 and as a coordinator in 5 research projects. He has been a Member of the Editorial Board of the Entomologia Hellenica since 2008. Since 2001, 23 manuscripts were sent for reviewing before being published in international scientific journals and 2 international projects. There are more than 100 manuscripts published since 1993, at scientific journals, proceedings, and abstracts of entomological congresses.
