Nalini S. Bora
Nalini S. Bora received her Ph.D. degree in biochemistry and immunology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India, and subsequently did her postdoctoral training at Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Mo, USA. She joined the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Washington University School of Medicine in June of 1990. Bora then moved to the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, University of Louisville, Ky, USA as an Associate Professor and was promoted to Full Professor in July 2005. In January 2006, she moved to the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), Ark, USA as a Professor and Director of vision research. Bora has made major contributions to the field of ocular autoimmunity and ocular immunology and has established herself as one of the leaders in this area, both nationally and internationally. Bora is an Associate Editor of Ocular Immunology and Inflammation. In 1984, Bora was awarded the Science Academy Medal for Young Scientists by Indian National Science Academy. In 2008, she became inaugural recipient of Bernice Young Jones Chair in ophthalmology and became Fellow of Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology in 2009. Her research interests include ocular autoimmunity, complement system, and age-related macular degeneration.
