Zhiping Ping Qiu serves as a Professor of Institute of Solid Mechanics at Beijing University, Beijing, China and at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He received B.S. and M.S. degrees from Mathematics Department at Jilin University, Changchun, Jilin, China, in 1984 and 1990. He received a Ph.D. degree in engineering mechanics from Jilin University in 1994. From 1995 till 1996, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Engineering Mechanics of Dalian University of Technology, Dalian, Liaoning, China. His research activities are in models and analysis of uncertain dynamic systems, computational solid mechanics, structural reliability, fatigue strength of vibrating systems, mechanics of composites, inverse problem in mechanics and so on. From 1999 till 2000, he worked as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at Wuppertal University, Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. In 2005, his research activity was supported by the National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation of China. From 1995 till now, his research activities were supported by the National Youth Science Foundation of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China and Institute of Engineering Physics of China, National Postdoctoral Science Foundation of China, Aeronautical Supporting Technology Foundation of China, and Astronautic Supporting Technology Foundation of China. He has published more than 150 technical papers.
