W.T. Wong

W.T. Wong obtained his B.S. degree in 1986 and M.Phil. degree in 1988 from The University of Hong Kong. He was awarded a Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 Scholarship to study his Ph.D. degree in the University of Cambridge, UK. He returned to The University of Hong Kong as a Lecturer at the Department of Chemistry in 1991, and was promoted to a Senior Lecturer in 1998, to Professor in 2000, and a Chair Professor in 2005. His major research interest includes metal cluster chemistry, X-ray crystallography, lanthanide chemistry, and nanomaterials. He has published more than 350 research papers in these areas. He has made profound contributions in the area of mixed-metal cluster chemistry and has written several key review articles in this field. His research accomplishment has led him to a degree of Doctor of Science from the University of Cambridge in 2000, an Outstanding Young Researcher Award in 2001, a Croucher Senior Research Fellowship in 2002, and an Outstanding Research Student Supervisor Award in 2003.
