Dimitrios Tziafas, a holder of D.D.S and Ph.D. degree, is a Professor and the Head of the Department of Endodontology in the School of Dentistry, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He graduated from the same school, in 1977. He has been a Board Member of the IADR/Continental European Division (2000-2003) and served as a President of IADR–Continental European Division (2006–2008). He has been a Guest Editor of the journal Advances in Dental Research, Volume 15, 2001 and served as the Organizer of the IADR/Continental European and Israeli Divisions annual meeting of 2007. He is also actively involved with the Research Committees of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and European Society of Endodontology. Research interests of Dr. Tziafas include cytodifferentiation mechanisms during tooth development and dental pulp repair, biology of mineralized tissues, and pathogenesis of pulp inflammation. He has published 4 invited reviews in biomedical and dental journals, over 50 peer-reviewed research papers, a monograph on the reparative dentinogenesis, and textbooks chapters relating to pulp biology.
