Anatoly I. Rusanov

Anatoly I. Rusanov is a Professor of physical chemistry at the St. Petersburg State University, where he has been a Chemistry Faculty Member since 1955 and Head of the Chair of Colloid Chemistry since 1987. He graduated from the St. Petersburg State University as a Chemist-Researcher in 1955, received the Ph.D. degree in physical chemistry in 1958 and the D.S. degree in 1959 from the St. Petersburg State University, where he founded and headed the Laboratory of Surface Phenomena in 1968-1987 up to coming to the Chair of Colloid Chemistry. His research interests are in colloid and interface science, thermodynamics of solutions and interfaces, physical chemistry of surfactants, micelles and vesicles, nucleation processes in phase transitions, surface separation science, mechanochemistry, and molecular dynamics. He was elected to the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in 1990 and to the Russian Academy of Sciences (as academician) in 1991 and as the President (in 1995–1998) and Vice President (since 1999) of the Mendeleev Russian Chemical Society. He was a recipient of the 1981 State Prize of the USSR in Sciences, of the 1991 Wolfkovich Prize of the Mendeleev Chemical Society, the 1993 Mendeleev Prize, and the 2001 Rehbinder Prize of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He has been Editor-in-Chief of the Russian Journal of General Chemistry, a Member of the Editorial Boards for Russian Chemical Journal, Russian Colloid Journal, Russian Chemical Reviews, Chemistry in Russia, Mendeleev Communications, served on the Advisory Board for Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, Colloids and Surfaces and Journal of Surface Science and Technology, and for Progress in Surface and Membrane Science. He authored or coauthored seven books and more than 600 refereed papers in journals and conference proceedings.
