Ji-Lai Gong works as an Associate Professor at the College of Environmental Science and Engineering in Hunan University of China, Hunan, China. She received her Ph.D. degree in 2006 from Hunan University in the fields of synthesis and application of bio-(nano) probe based on surface-enhanced Raman scattering spectroscopy technology. Dr. Gong has received several honors and awards including Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University from the Ministry of Education of China and National Natural Science Foundation of China. She has published over 20 peer-reviewed journal publications. Dr. Gong’ s research is now focused on the application of nanostructured materials and nanotechnology for wastewater treatment and creation of nanobiosensors. In the area of wastewater treatment, we are developing environmentally-friendly techniques and nanomaterials for removal of heavy metals, phosphorous, and organic pollutants including pesticides and dyes. In the area of nanobiosensors, we are working on the development of biosensors for detection of environmental pathogenic microorganism, heavy metals, and cancer markers for health care.
