Tzyy-Sheng Horng was born December 7, 1963, in Taichung, Taiwan. He received the B.S.E.E. degree from the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, in 1985, and the M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California at Los Angeles, USA, in 1990 and 1992, respectively. In August 1992, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Sun Yat-sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, where he is currently a Professor, possessing experience as a Director of the Telecommunication Research and Development Center and the Institute of Communications Engineering from 2003 to 2008 and 2004 to 2007, respectively. He has authored or coauthored over 100 technical publications in refereed journals and conferences proceedings. He holds over ten patents. His research interests include RF and microwave integrated circuits and components, RF signal integrity for wireless system-in-package, and digitally assisted RF technologies. Dr. Horng has served on several Technical Program Committees of international conferences, including the IASTED International Conference onWireless and Optical Communications (WOC), the IEEE Region 10 International Technical Conference (TENCON), the IEEE International Workshop on Electrical Design of Advanced Packaging and Systems (EDAPS), the Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC), the IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium (RWS), and the IEEE Electronic Components and Technology Conference (ECTC). He was the recipient of the 1996 Young Scientist Award presented by the International Union of Radio Science and the 1998 Industry-Education Cooperation Award presented by the Ministry of Education, Taiwan.
